🌍 Position Overview: 

The Surgical Prior Authorization Specialist is responsible for securing insurance authorizations for surgical procedures by working closely with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients. The role ensures that surgeries proceed without delay due to prior authorization issues. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• 📋 Obtain Prior Authorizations: Coordinate with surgeons, medical staff, and insurance companies to obtain necessary approvals for surgeries and procedures. 
• 🧾 Verify Insurance Benefits: Confirm patients’ insurance coverage and ensure that surgeries are covered according to payer requirements. 
• 🗂 Submit Documentation: Prepare and submit clinical documentation to support authorization requests. 
• 🔍 Follow-Up on Requests: Track the status of authorization submissions and resolve any issues with insurance companies. 
• 💬 Communicate with Stakeholders: Act as a liaison between the surgical team, patients, and insurance companies to provide status updates. 
• 🛠 Handle Denials: Manage and appeal denied prior authorization requests by submitting additional information. 
• 📝 Maintain Accurate Records: Record all authorization details and track approval status in relevant systems. 
• 📚 Stay Updated on Payer Policies: Keep informed on changing insurance payer policies and ensure the surgical team is aware. 
• 🕒 Assist in Scheduling: Work with surgery schedulers to ensure all authorizations are obtained before scheduled procedures.
