    🌍Position Overview: 

    The Healthcare DME (Durable Medical Equipment) Biller is responsible for submitting and following up on claims related to DME services. The position ensures accurate billing and timely collections by verifying insurance information, understanding payor policies, and working closely with insurance companies, providers, and patients. 

    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Claim Submission: Prepare, review, and submit DME claims to insurance companies via electronic and paper submissions. 
    • Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance eligibility and coverage for DME services prior to claim submission. 
    • Documentation Management: Ensure all necessary documentation, such as physician orders and medical records, are obtained and submitted with claims. 
    • Coding: Accurately code DME services using HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System) codes, along with any relevant CPT and ICD-10 codes. 
    • Denial Management: Track and manage denials and rejections, working on appeals and resubmissions to resolve issues and secure payments. 
    • Follow-up: Monitor the status of submitted claims, ensure timely payment, and follow up on any overdue or unpaid claims. 
    • Customer Service: Respond to patient, provider, and insurance inquiries regarding claims, benefits, and billing issues. 
    • Collections: Coordinate with the collections department for unpaid balances and patient collections, if necessary. 
    • Compliance: Ensure compliance with state and federal billing regulations, payer guidelines, and internal company policies. 
    • Reporting: Generate regular reports on billing activities, collections, and outstanding balances for the management team. 
    • Collaboration: Work closely with the DME supply team, providers, and payors to resolve any discrepancies and ensure the smooth processing of claims. 

    Skills & Qualifications: 

    • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of DME billing experience or healthcare billing experience. 
    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical Billing and Coding certification is preferred. 
    • Technical Skills: Proficiency in billing software and knowledge of insurance company portals. Familiarity with HCPCS, CPT, and ICD-10 codes. 
    • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain billing information clearly to patients and team members. 
    • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify billing issues and take proactive steps to resolve them. 
    • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in entering billing information and reviewing claims. 
    • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

    Preferred Qualifications:  

    • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance payer guidelines for DME. 
    • Familiarity with compliance and documentation requirements for DME billing. 
    • Prior experience with electronic health records (EHR) and practice management systems.
